আমি ১৯৯৮,২০০৩ এবং ২০১৩ সালে কৃষ্ণনগর পৌর নির্বাচনে ৯ নং ওয়ার্ডের শুভবুদ্ধিসম্পন্ন জনগণের দ্বারা কাউন্সিলর নির্বাচিত হয়েছিলাম।এই বছর আরও একটি পৌর নির্বাচন হতে চলেছে।
আপনারা নিশ্চই আমার বিগত পনেরো বছরের কাজের মূল্যায়ন করেছেন।আপনাদের নিশ্চয় মনে আছে পনেরো বছর আগে আমাদের এই ওয়ার্ড অন্যতম অনুন্নত ও অবহেলিত ওয়ার্ড ছিল। ফলে আমাকে এই ওয়ার্ডে উন্নয়ন শূন্য থেকে শুরু করতে হয়েছিল। এই ওয়ার্ডের অনেক রাস্তাতেই বৈদ্যুতিক আলোর ব্যবস্থা ছিলোনা, একটি রাস্তাও পিচ বা কংক্রিটের ছিলনা ,আমি এগুলিকে ঠিক করার যথাসাধ্য চেষ্টা করেছি এবং সফলও হয়েছি।আপনাদের যে কোন সমস্যা নিয়ে আপনারা যখনই আমার কাছে এসেছেন আমি আমার সাধ্যমতো তার সমাধান করার চেষ্টা করেছি এবং আপনাদের যখন যে সার্টিফিকেটের প্রয়োজন হয়েছে আমি তখনই তা দেবার চেষ্টা করেছি। আপনাদের সহযোগিতায় এই অনুন্নত ,অবহেলিত ওয়ার্ড উন্নয়ন করার জন্য আমি যথাসাধ্য চেষ্টা করেছি।আপনাদের জন্য আমি সবসময় এগিয়ে এসেছি এবং ভবিষ্যতেও এগিয়ে আসব। শুধু আপনারা পশে থাকবেন।জ্ঞানত কারোর সঙ্গে দুর্ব্যবহার করিনি। আমি যেভাবে এই ওয়ার্ড এবং এই ওয়ার্ডের বাসিন্দাদের সঙ্গে সম্পৃক্ত সে জায়গাটা অন্য কেও নিতে পারবে কিনা আপনারাই বিবেচনা করে দেখবেন।
View More >>My mother was a typical house-wife then. My father was an Government employee of C.M.O.H office, Nadia & we are a very happy family. She was requested to contest as a candidate of Indian National Congress of Ward No-9 in the Municipality Election 1998 as our Ward was reserved for the Scheduled Caste ladies candidate. She won that contest with 184 votes. Then some of the leaders of the then ruling party of Krishnagar Municipality thought that she would be a mere puppet in their hands. But as a Councillor she proved her capability and soon she became very popular in her Ward. Being afraid of her popularity and efficiency some of the political leaders of her own party began to conspire against her. They instigated an independent to contest against her in the Municipality Election 2003. But showing a thumb to them my mother won the contest with 786 votes without any reservation defeating four male candidates & re-elected as a Councillor of Ward No-9.In spite of her huge success as a Councillor she had to lose the contest in 2008 to a Trinomool Congress candidate for only 56 votes due to a sabotage in her own party. But she did not give up hope.She made herself involved in social & Political activities in her Ward as well as in our town.Then came the Municipality election 2013.

Kanyashree Prakalpa seeks to improve the status and wellbeing of girls, specifically those from socio-economically disadvantaged families through Conditional Cash Transfers by:
Incentivizing them to continue in education for a longer period of time, and complete secondary or higher secondary education, or equivalent in technical or vocational steams, thereby giving them a better footing in both the economic and social spheres. Disincentivising marriage till at least the age of 18, the legal age of marriage, thereby reducing the risks of early pregnancies, associated risks of maternal and child mortality, and other debilitating health conditions, including those of malnutrition. It was also decided that the Scheme should confer more than just monetary support; it should be a means of financial inclusion and a tool of empowerment for adolescent girls. The schemes benefits are therefore paid directly to bank accounts in the girls names, leaving the decision of utilization of the money in their hands.
To reinforce the positive impact of increased education and delayed marriages, the scheme also works to enhance the social power and self-esteem of girls through a targeted behaviour change communication strategy. The communication strategy not only builds awareness of the scheme, but includes adolescent-friendly approaches like events, competitions and Kanyashree clubs, and the endorsement of strong women figures as role models to promote social and psychological empowerment. As more and more girls remain in school, it is envisaged that they will use the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge that will help them become economically independent. Even if girls do get married soon after they turn 18, it is expected that their education and enhanced social and emotional development will give them a better foundation for in their adult lives. And over time, as entire generations of women enter marriages only after they have some degree of economic independence, it is expected that the practice of child marriage is completely eradicated, and women will attain their right to health, education and socio-economic equality.
